Armed Forces

The Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) have a proud legacy of service dating back to colonial militias in New France and British North America. After Confederation in 1867, Canada developed its own military, gaining international respect during the First World War with key victories like Vimy Ridge. In the Second World War, over a million Canadians served, contributing to major efforts such as D-Day and the liberation of Europe. Since then, the CAF has played a key role in peace-keeping, NATO missions, and disaster relief worldwide.

The Armed Forces building and its exhibits aim to preserve this legacy and celebrate the journey of Canadian soldiers—past and present—in their service to the nation.
